Youth athlete training with a BCF coach in West Omaha

What is Youth Strength and Conditioning at BCF?

Youth Strength and Conditioning at BCF is individualized athletic development training in a group capped at a maximum 4-to-1 client-to-coach ratio. Every athlete follows a program built specifically for them — their sport, their goals, their stage of development.

We don’t train athletes as a pack and call it a program. A 20-to-1 ratio is a PE class. At BCF, the ratio stays at 4-to-1 so coaches have eyes and ears on every athlete at all times.

How it works

Every program is built for the individual athlete. Even when athletes train alongside each other, each program belongs to one person. Goals, sport demands, movement patterns, strength baseline — all of it gets factored in before the first session.

The method is resistance training with progressive overload. Every session is designed to move the athlete forward — building strength, firing fast-twitch muscle fibers, and improving the mobility and flexibility that separate good athletes from great ones.

Sessions run 45 minutes. Some days go a few minutes longer, some end sooner. It depends on the volume prescribed for that specific day. Athletes work the whole time.

The ratio stays at 4 to 1. That’s the maximum. Coach-to-athlete ratios higher than that mean individual athletes get less attention, less correction, and less development.

Safety is non-negotiable. Small groups mean coaches see what’s happening. Movement quality gets corrected in real time. Athletes build strength the right way, which is also the safe way.

Who is it for?

BCF trains youth athletes at every competitive level — middle school, high school, college, and Olympic-level development. Programs are built around the demands of the sport and the athlete’s current stage of physical development.

The right athlete for this program takes competition seriously. They want to be stronger, more explosive, and faster than they were last season. They’re willing to do the work.

This program is a coaching relationship, not a membership to a facility. Athletes who want a big group class experience won’t find it here.

The coaches

Every coach working with BCF youth athletes is nationally certified.

Trevor Davis (Owner and Head Coach) is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Sports Nutrition Specialist, and Certified Personal Trainer. 20+ years of coaching experience. Coaching in West Omaha since 2004. The CSCS credential is the gold standard in athletic development — required by college and professional strength programs.

Connor Tackett (Morning Lead Trainer) holds CSCS and ACE certifications and runs youth sessions alongside Semi-Private Personal Training and Block Training.

Jordan Whaley (Afternoon Lead Trainer) specializes in strength and conditioning and runs afternoon sessions.

All coaches are CPR and AED certified.

Common questions about Youth Strength and Conditioning at BCF

How is BCF Youth S&C different from a team training program?

Team programs train a group doing the same thing. At BCF, every athlete follows their own program — built for their sport, their goals, and their physical baseline. The ratio is capped at 4 to 1. Coaches aren’t managing a crowd, they’re coaching specific athletes through specific progressions.

What is the 4-to-1 ratio and why does it matter?

Four athletes per coach, maximum. That cap means the coach is always watching the athlete move, catching form errors, cueing corrections, and adjusting load in real time. A higher ratio makes individual coaching impossible. BCF doesn’t run it that way.

What ages and levels does BCF work with?

Middle school through college and Olympic-level athletes. Programs are built around each athlete’s competitive level and sport-specific demands. A high school basketball player and a collegiate sprinter are in different programs even if they train in the same session.

What does a typical Youth S&C session look like?

The athlete warms up, then moves through the day’s programming. The coach is on the floor the entire session — watching movement, cueing technique, adjusting loads. Sessions run 45 minutes. Programming volume for that specific day determines the exact length.

Is this program year-round?

Yes. BCF Youth Strength and Conditioning runs year-round. In-season, off-season, and pre-season programming all look different because the demands are different. Athletes who train through the year build a compounding advantage.
